The Eagle’s Nest - Clarkesville, TN
January, 2008

Dear Praying Friends,

Thank you so much for your gift to the Center. God is so good and we are truly blessed to be allowed to serve Him in this place. This month has been a whirlwind for us. Mother spent two days in the hospital with uncontrolled asthma! My sister Priscilla came to spend a week and it was so much fun to have her. She really was an asset with her musical talent during the holidays both here and at our church where sickness claimed our pianist. She was able to fill in for the Christmas Ever Service and did a beautiful job. Mother is doing much better but we realize at 91 she won’t be with us much longer.

We had 44 for Christmas Dinner! A couple from our church volunteered to help and they were such a blessing. The soldiers did not stay around after dinner but they did take a Christmas box we had fixed for each of them with a gospel tract and an invitation to come back to the Center. We are grateful for those who are willing to help. Please pray for those soldiers who will be filling out the units over in Iraq beginning in January (well, some of them left on the 28th!) Many of them took the free Bibles we offered them.

Pray for our soldiers in Iraq – things are getting better but they have down time and they miss families more than ever. They were given four days off for Christmas; when they called us they were bored and that’s when satan hits them hard. What a blessing it was to hear from many of our “regulars” from the last ten years! It seems like the Lord is blessing each of them. It is humbling to think we had a small part in each of their lives. We are encouraged to hear them share what God is doing in their lives and to have them send pictures of their children for whom we are already praying.

Please pray for Chris, Jamie and their two children. They were regulars here, got out of the Army and moved to Sierra vista, Arizona and now work for the Army as civilians doing the same job. However, with all the travel their marriage is shaking and they need our prayers. Pray for Josh, Heidi and their two little ones.

We are seeing some new soldiers and we are praying we will have opportunities to point them to the Savior. Some of them are from the “Wounded Warrior Program.” They surely have a lot of obstacles to overcome but the biggest one is their need of the Savior. Please pray for us as we interact with them.

Again, we appreciate each of you and thank you for keeping us here serving Him. As we anticipate the New Year we trust each of you is ready to meet the Savior. We believe He is coming soon.

Yours for the Souls of Soldiers,

Ernie and Martha Brockman
